2015/16 RENT REVIEW and Rent Setting Policy
We have started the process of looking at next year’s financial budget. A key part of this is reviewing rents and service charges and consulting with tenants prior to any proposed increase on 1 April 2015. As part of this process we will be holding tenant meetings in early January 2015 to listen to your views.
The Association is committed to providing value for money and quality services for all our tenants. We understand over the last few years there have been difficult economic circumstances, but we must ensure we meet our operating costs particularly in relation to our future planned maintenance programme. The Management Committee will therefore consider a draft budget in December 2014, and we are considering a rent increase of 2.3%. This is 1% above the current inflation figures at October 2014.
In addition to reviewing next year’s budget, the Management Board is also reviewing how we set rents on each property through our Rent Setting Policy. Part of this process will involve consulting tenants through focus groups. The meetings will be made up of a small number of tenants and will allow us to discuss new proposals about how to set your rent and also to discuss how any changes can be introduced. The meetings will take place at the following locations on:
Auchenback Resource Centre (ARC)-13 January 2015;
Dunterlie Resource Centre- 15 January 2015;
The Bank Café, Neilston- 20 January 2015;
Barrhead Housing Association Office- 22 January 2015.
If you wish to attend any of the meetings, please contact Jim Munro at our Office.
Alternatively, you can contact us directly to discuss with a member of staff. Information will also be available on our web-site www.barrheadha.org and on our Barrhead TV screens located in and around the area. The consultation will be completed by February 2014, when the Management Committee approve the final budget.
